Apps Abilities

Cape Abilities has partnered with Penguin Digital Design and Core Computers to launch Apps Abilities, a program designed to help people with disabilities improve life skills through the use of iPads.

The iPad touch screen provides an engaging window to a new world for people with disabilities, providing diverse and visible instruction with consistent interaction. The Cape Abilities Life Skills staff is now identifying the “apps” which best assist in developing skills that enhance quality of life.  

To start, we are focusing on the use of apps related to communication, behavior modification and social interaction. Penguin Digital is providing staff training and Core Computers has generously loaned equipment for this program, which has great potential for helping people with disabilities become more independent, improve communication skills and find new ways to share their talents and abilities with others.

We will be launching a new website soon to share our findings, but in the meantime we will post our progress here. Be sure to check back for updates!
