What We Do

Cape Cod services for people with disabilities:
Residential Services

There is no place like home.

At Cape Abilities, we provide residential services for Cape Codders with a wide variety of disabilities. Each home is a place of pride, where each individual receives the care and support that they need to live an active life in their community.

The goal of our residential support programs is to provide maximized independence and choice. As the cost of owning a home on Cape Cod skyrockets, Cape Abilities residential programs continue to provide affordable housing for individuals with disabilities.

Each home tailors activities depending on individual choices. Activities include fishing trips, volunteer work, local shopping, library visits, exercising, movies, family visits, religious services and daily responsibilities of residential life such as cooking and cleaning.

Cape Abilities offers a broad spectrum of Residential Services:

Homes for People with Severe Head Injury
Working with the Massachusetts State Head Injury Program (SHIP) Cape Abilities provides round-the-clock supervision for people who have suffered severe head injury. Individuals participate in social and recreational activities.

Community Homes
Individuals live in a group setting. Support staff helps manage the responsibilities of the house and help with transportation needs. Each individual has a private bedroom and shares activities and meals with a small group.

Shared Living Homes
The Shared Living program matches adults with disabilities with families or individuals (providers) who want to share their home. Providers support individuals with transportation, community involvement and other activities of daily living like personal care, cooking and money management.

Independent Living Supports
Cape Codders with disabilities, who are able to live alone, but need some assistance, receive support from the staff in the Independent Living program. The program provides assistance with shopping, house cleaning, money management and other independent living skills.

Adult Foster Care
People with disabilities who need medical and case management assistance can receive the services through the Adult Foster Care program. Trained nursing and case management staff provide individualized support.
