Volunteer at Cape Abilities!

“I have a strong commitment to the Cape Abilities mission. Any slight contribution I can make to help and empower our participants to meet their individual goals is important to me.”  – Nancy (kneeling, second from right), a year-round volunteer with Cape Abilities

We love our volunteers. Their never-ending passion and genuine desire to help plays a vital role in the success of our mission.  Our volunteer program is active and thriving, and we hope you will consider joining this very special community, no matter how much time you can give.  We know you can make a real difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Fun and flexible volunteer opportunities
range from regular weekly assignments to one-time special events, on a schedule that works best for you. For example, you can share your skills and your hobbies with a specific volunteer position that assists our businesses, or you can help our participants in our day habilitation programs learn to garden, cook, paint, take photos or use a computer.  The opportunities are endless!

“I look at volunteering as a two way street,” says Nancy. “Perhaps in a small way I am helping our people to be their best possible selves and live active and meaningful lives.  But in return the Cape Abilities family has enriched my life by providing me with a sense of giving back something to all the wonderful participants and staff that I have come to know and love.”

Here Are Some Events Where Volunteers Really Shine!

Cape Abilities Harbor Walk Fun Run
We are thrilled to present this annual Walk and Fun Run to raise funds to support Cape Abilities!  Hundreds of walkers come to walk in this family-friendly day of activities and wellness education.  Whether you walk, run, or volunteer, your participation supports Cape Abilities!

Cape Abilities Golf Tournament
Our annual Benefit Golf Tournament is held at the Cummaquid Golf Club in Yarmouthport.  Its a great day of golf on one of the Cape’s premier golf locations, followed by dinner and silent auction, all to raise funds to support our programs for individuals with disabilities!

New Balance Falmouth Road Race
The Falmouth Road Race, the annual 7-mile road race from Woods Hole to Falmouth Heights, is considered one of the premier non-marathon races in the country, if not the world, attracting over 10,000 runners each year.  More people apply for places than can be accommodated in the race, so a lottery is held to select the field of runners. Cape Abilities is among the charities selected by the Falmouth Road Race for its Numbers for Non-Profits program.  As part of Team Cape Abilities,  dedicated runners will receive an official entry number and each will be obligated to raise a minimum of $1,000.  100% of the money raised through these donations will help Cape Abilities fulfill its mission to continue to serve individuals with disabilities on Cape Cod.
