Governor Patrick visits Cape Abilities Farm

Governor Deval Patrick toured Cape Abilities Farm on Saturday, June 25 to learn more about our work. The governor spent part of the afternoon touring our greenhouses and meeting with members of the farm team. This season, workers at the farm have cultivated over 50,000 seedlings and plants. The governor was particularly interested in our methods for growing our award-winning tomatoes.

Cape Abilities provides jobs, homes and other services for people with disabilities across Cape Cod.

Joanne Goldstein, Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development, joined the governor on the tour along with State Senator Dan Wolf and State Representative Cleon Turner. Ann Marie Campbell, a long-time member of the farm team, presented Governor Patrick with a basket of produce grown at the farm.

In honor of the governor’s visit, one of the bees working at Cape Abilities Farm greenhouse was officially adopted and named “Governor Deval Patrick”. The governor received his official bee adoption certificate. Earlier in the day, the governor visited Centerville Pie Company to learn more about their famous pies and work with Cape Abilities.
