Cape Abilities has launched a new program that uses the latest technology to help people with disabilities learn new skills, make connections and expand their world.

Apps Abilities uses applications, or “apps” on iPads to engage people with disabilities in interactive learning. Our Life Skills staff is currently working with Life Skills participants to identify apps that are the most effective and user-friendly. As we gain more insights, we plan to share our findings with others.

Our partners in the Apps Abilities initiative are Penguin Digital Design, which is providing training and assistance to Cape Abilities staff and participants, and with  Core Computers . We are grateful for their support.

Cape Abilities provides services for people with developmental disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy, blindness, traumatic brain injury and other significant disabilities. Founded in 1968, Cape Abilities provides jobs, homes, transportation and other services for people with disabilities across Cape Cod.

We hope to expand Apps Abilities to include more people with disabilities. This will require purchasing additional iPads, so we are in the process of fundraising for that purpose. To make a donation to Apps Abilities, click here and select Apps Abilities on the drop-down menu. Your support will mean a great deal to people with disabilities on Cape Cod.
