Life Skills

Gail Carroll is part of the mall walking daily exercise group at the Cape Cod Mall

The Life Skills Day Habilitation programs offered at Cape Abilities Lyndon Center in Hyannis and the Cochran Center in Eastham enhance the quality of life of the individuals we support through a variety of therapeutic approaches.

Cape Codders with disabilities take part in activities designed to maintain and improve skills for daily living, communication, personal safety and wellness.

Individuals are evaluated and assessed across several developmental need areas. These include self-help, sensorimotor, communication, social, independent living, affective and behavioral development. Individualized plans and goals are developed for all participants.

The Day Habilitation program has Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy services, along with opportunities for a wide variety of classes and programs including:

  • Cooking
  • Music
  • Horse therapy
  • Therapy horticulture
  • Therapy knitting/crocheting
  • Daily exercise
