THANK YOU for supporting the First Annual Charter Cup Fishing Tournament!

We are honored to have been selected as a beneficiary of the inaugural charity Charter Cup Fishing Tournament, presented by E.J. Jaxtimer of EJ Jaxtimer Builder, Inc. and Sam Baxter of Baxter’s Boathouse and Fish & Chips, which took place on Wednesday July 19th at Baxter’s Fish and Chips in Hyannis.

“I am proud that businesses from our local community are coming together to introduce this new fishing tournament to raise funds for our local nonprofits,” says event co-organizer E.J. Jaxtimer, (at right, with Terry Jaxtimer (left) and Cape Abilities President and Executive Director Rosalie Edes).  “With my lifelong passion for fishing and philanthropy, I wanted to create a new, exclusive fishing tournament that will benefit nonprofits who are in need of funding on Cape Cod.”

The 1st Charter Cup Fishing Tournament raised awareness and more than $40,000 for eight local non-profit programs including Cape Abilities!  Captain Sam Jaxtimer (right, yellow pants) and his Bull Shark crew (Ryan Lino, JJ Friehl, Jackson Friehl, and Rob Kennedy) raised more than $2500 to benefit our programs and services.  Eight fishing boats competed to raise money for their selected charities, and the winning boat with the heaviest catches received an additional $1000 for their charity!   It was all hands on deck for “business giving back”!

“We are so fortunate that there are community leaders who come together to respond to the needs of area non-profits,” notes CA’s Rosalie Edes. “We are truly grateful to EJ Jaxtimer and Sam Baxter (right) for hosting such a creative and fun way to bring people together to support our agency and so many others.”

We hope you will help support this terrific community engagement by donating today to help us match the generous donation from the crew of the Bull Shark!
