4What a night!

On February 22nd, Guapo’s Tortilla Shack teamed up with Nauset Disposal and turned their very popular National Margarita Day Afterwork Party into a fundraising event for Cape Abilities! The event was part of the Orleans restaurant’s “Guapo’s Gives” charity initiative, which regularly raises thousands of dollars for local non-profits.

The fundraising event raised more than $7,400 for Cape Abilities, and was a tremendous outpouring of community support. Hundreds purchased tickets online for a chance to win the “Nauset Disposal Blizzard Barrel” (a 95-gallon “Blizzard Barrel” loaded with more than $3000 worth of donated prizes from community businesses) and hundreds more attended the event throughout the evening to help meet and then exceed the targeted fundraising goal of $5000.

“Absolutely wonderful!”, said Rosalie Edes, President and Executive Director of Cape Abilities. “We are overwhelmed!! This tremendous generosity will have an immediate impact on our services!!”

“The work Cape Abilities does to promote productive community involvement is exceptional,” added Shawn DeLude, owner of Nauset Disposal in Orleans. “We are thankful to Guapo’s for including us in this event; it is a wonderful thing to see organizations with like-minded missions working together to enrich our community.”

Delicious menu samples from Guapo’s were shared throughout the evening, and the Cape’s best margaritas were frosted with our own Cape Cod Saltworks Sea Salt™!

“Cape Abilities is a tremendous organization that makes a tangible difference in the lives of thousands of local adults,” said Kyle Parker, owner of Guapo’s, the Orleans Chamber of Commerce’ 2015 Business of the Year. “We’re thrilled to support them and even more thrilled that Nauset Disposal and so many other local businesses have joined in the cause. It’s great to have a party around National Margarita Day, but it’s even better to use it for community action.”
