Cropped Collage 1Cape Abilities and The Bank of Cape Cod are proud to present an original art exhibit celebrating the artistic talents of 90 members of the Cape Abilities family!

The “Celebrating Abilities” Art Exhibit features more than 130 original creations, including paintings, sculpture, photography and jewelry, and will be on display at the Bank of Cape Cod’s Route 132 Hyannis location through the end of June.

“We are delighted to have talents of Cape Abilities on full display at our Hyannis branch,” noted Mark Skala, Vice President of Marketing & Community Relations at Bank of Cape Cod. “When we created this gallery space for our community to use, we envisioned many artists and organizations having a chance to showcase amazing art happening right here on the Cape. We are thrilled to partner with Cape Abilities and encourage our customers and neighbors to stop by, checkout the creations and purchase the pieces, all to benefit this worthwhile organization.”

Cropped Sunset 1Many of the artists, who are participants in Cape Abilities programs, have had their artwork on display in exhibits at the historic Sturgis Library in Barnstable Village, and the spectacular Atria Woodbriar Assisted Living Center in Falmouth. “Celebrating Abilities” is a stunning reflection of each individual artist’s utilization of an art medium the showcases their ability and talent best. This exhibit is an important step in a meaningful journey for each artist: each has experienced the joy of creating their own art all by themselves, have shared their work in class with their peers, and now have the unique opportunity to celebrate their creativity with a much larger part of the Cape Cod community.

“I love working with the artists at Cape Abilities,” said Tobai Leighton, the Cape Abilities Resident Artist and Instructor who lead this project.  “I have been a witness to a lot of growth in each person who finds their creativity.  Each artist creates art pieces so differently, and I hope a lot of people will come and see the range of creativity displayed in this show.”

“Celebrating Abilities” reveals an inner passion not easily expressed in words, but so beautifully translated through brush and paint, film and metal, texture and vision.

website“We want to showcase the talents of members of the entire Cape Abilities community,” said Rosalie Edes, President and Executive Director of Cape Abilities. “So rather than just inviting individuals with disabilities to contribute their art, we also invited staff and caregivers to participate.  The results are better than we could ever anticipate.  We are excited that this has brought forth such a range of amazing artistic talent!”
