Our current volunteer opportunities include
the following remote and in-person positions:


Volunteer Zoom Day Program Assistants
Support our Zoom Day Habilitation program that goes live to our participants twice daily M-F. Host, co-host, or participate in a 1-hour session on one of your hobbies or interests, once or multiple times. Of particular interest are sessions on life skills, cooking, exercise, music, art, and community activities. This can be done remotely from your home and requires a computer with reliable internet connection or a smartphone.

Volunteer Farm Assistants

  • Greenhouse Assistants – Help out in the produce greenhouses on weekdays or weekends,
  • Social Media Volunteer – Use your tech skills to photograph and post to social media. Knowledge of plants or local produce is particularly helpful.

Volunteer Thrift Shop Assistants

  • Weekend Shop Assistants – Help out in the shop with sales and cashiering
  • Pick-Up and Delivery Assistant – Lift and help carry furniture once or twice a week
  • Social Media Volunteer – Use your smartphone skills to promote new products in the shop

Volunteer Human Resources Assistant
Support our Human Resources department with paperwork: filing, copying, scanning and other office tasks. Must respect confidentiality and be able to multitask, and pay great attention to detail. Some work can be done remotely and others on-site in our Lyndon Center office in Hyannis.

Volunteer Handymen/women and Gardeners
Help out at some of our many locations across the Cape with small projects, including painting, garden maintenance, and repairs. Possibilities from Sandwich to Eastham, on a one-off or regular basis.

We hope you will consider joining this very special community, no matter how much time you can give.  Fun and flexible volunteer opportunities range from regular weekly assignments to one-time special events, on a schedule that works best for you.

There are unlimited opportunities to make a difference when you volunteer at Cape Abilities.  Share your skills and your hobbies with a specific volunteer position that assists our businesses, or you can help our participants in our day habilitation programs learn to garden, cook, paint, take photos or use a computer.

Achieving Service Enterprise certification is a very prestigious accomplishment for an organization. In addition, we are pleased to announce that Cape Abilities was recognized at the 2019 Massachusetts Conference on Volunteerism for implementing a volunteer engagement model called the Service Enterprise Initiative (SEI).  Cape Abilities received the Service Enterprise Initiative Transformation Award presented by the Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA).  To learn more, click on the video below!
